MAJ Berenado Vunibobo

Major Berenado Vunibobo is originally from New York City, NY. He is a first-generation Fijian-American and enlisted in the New York National Guard in 2008 as an 09S, Commissioned Officer Candidate. He graduated from Basic Training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, and was commissioned in June 2009 at the Officer Candidate School in Fort Benning, GA, and then joined B Co. 101st Expeditionary Signal Battalion in Orangeburg, NY. He deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as a platoon leader and liaison officer to the 160th Signal Brigade in 2012-2013.
Upon return, MAJ Vunibobo moved to Washington State and served as a staff officer with the 81st Stryker BDE in the Washington National Guard, then joined the Reserves in 2017 and served with the 1395th DDS Battalion JBLM, WA. In 2018, he joined the 12 POB and served as the CUOPs OIC till 2019.
MAJ Vunibobo moved back to New York City in 2019 and was assigned to the 301st Information Operations (IO) Battalion and deployed to Stuttgart, Germany, in support of the European Deterrent Initiative, serving as a staff officer in the G39 operations cell at the United States European Command in Patch Barracks, Germany, from 2020-2021.
Upon return, MAJ Vunibobo served as the HHC Commander for the 301st IO BN and subsequently the Assistant S3 for the Battalion. In 2022, he was selected to serve in the Active Guard Reserves and was assigned to the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities as an APMS.
MAJ Vunibobo resides with his wife and two sons in Woodbury, Minnesota, while his daughter completes high school in New York City
