MAJ Jacob Peterson

MAJ Peterson is a native of Coon Rapids, Minnesota. He attended Saint Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minnesota, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. Following graduation in 2009, MAJPeterson was commissioned through the Fighting Saints ROTC Battalion in the Infantry Branch.
After completing the Infantry Basic Officer Leader Course and other required training at Fort Benning, Georgia, MAJ Peterson was assigned to A Co, 1st Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas. While at Fort Riley, he served as a rifle platoon leader and was deployed in 2011 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Upon returning, MAJ Peterson was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, where he served as the Scout Platoon Leader.
After completing Special Forces Assessment and Selection in January 2013, he was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC, where he completed the Army Common Core Course and the Special Forces Qualification Course. Upon completion in 2015, he was assigned to A Co, 3rd Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne). MAJ Peterson served as the detachment commander of Special Forces Operational Detachment–Alpha (SFOD-A) 0312 and as the unit's executive officer, and deployed twice to support Operation Atlantic Resolve, which supported NATO Allies and Eastern European Partner Nations.
In 2018, MAJ Peterson transitioned from Active Duty to the Colorado Army National Guard (COARNG) and served as the Detachment Commander of SFOD-A 9523, B Co, 5th Battalion, 19th Special Forces Group (Airborne), and as the Operations Director of Special Operations Detachment–Korea. While serving in the COARNG, MAJ Peterson was deployed overseas three times to support operations in EUCOM and INDOPACOM.
MAJ Peterson's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (3rd award), Special Forces Tab, Ranger Tab, Combat Infantryman's Badge, and Parachutist Badge.
MAJ Peterson holds an MBA from the University of Minnesota- Carlson School of Management and is married to the former AnneMarie McNallan of Coon Rapids, Minnesota. They have seven children.
