CPT Benjamin Larson is a Minnesota native currently living in Cambridge, MN, on his 10-acre homestead with his wife and two children. In 2016, he was commissioned as an Armor Officer through the ROTC program at St. Cloud State University in MN. In Fall 2016, he attended the Armor Basic Officer Leadership Course (ABOLC) at Fort Benning, GA. In 2022, Maneuver Captain’s Career Course (MCCC) at The Maneuver Center Of Excellence, Fort Benning, GA.
CPT Larson’s previous leadership positions include Armor Platoon Leader (PL) and Company Executive Officer (XO), deploying as the Company XO with B CO, 1-194 AR CAB from March 2021 through February 2022. Follow-on assignments include Battalion Current/Future Operations Plans Officer (S3 CUOPS/FUOPS), BN S3 Battle Captain, and BN Assistant S3 (AS3) in HHC, 1-194 AR CAB. CPT Larson is currently serving as the Company Commander for HHC 2-136 IN CAB, and he will complete his command time in June 2026. During these assignments, he has attended an Exportable Combat Training Capabilities (XCTC) rotation at Fort Cavazos, TX, a National Training Center (NTC) rotation at Fort Irwin, CA, Brightstar Joint Training Exercise, Egypt, and deployed to Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, Operation Enduring Freedom in support of Operation Spartan Shield (OEF/OSS).
CPT Larson graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice Studies from Saint Cloud State University, Minnesota. CPT Larson’s professional military education includes Armor BOLC (Fort Benning) and MCCC (Fort Benning). Additional military education includes the Hazardous Material Certification Course (Fort Robinson, AR), Unit Mobility Management Course (Fort Robinson, AR), Maneuver Leaders Maintenance Course (Fort Benning, GA), NetCUSR Course (Fort Robinson, AR), and ARNG Training Officer Course (Fort Robinson, AR).
CPT Larson’s military awards include the Army Reserve Commendation Medal, the Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal (x3 Awards), Army-Airforce Presidential Unit Citation (PUC) Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation (MUC) Medal, Army Superior Unit Award, Humanitarian Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon Overseas Service Ribbon, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal (with M Device), the Army Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award), the Minnesota State Active Duty (2nd Award), and the Minnesota Service Ribbon. © 2023 Regents of the University of Minnesota.
