CPT Carroll was born and raised in Upstate New York. He attended the United States Military Academy from 2012 to 2016, where he majored in Systems Engineering and received a minor in Counterterrorism. After graduating from Armor BOLC, ARC, Ranger School, and Airborne School, CPT Carroll arrived at his first unit, 3-61 CAV, 2IBCT, 4ID at Ft Carson, CO, in March 2018. Immediately after his arrival, he took over as a Platoon Leader in Apache Troop and deployed to Kosovo to support Operation Joint Guardian (KFOR24). Upon redeployment from Kosovo, CPT Carroll became Executive Officer of the same Troop for the next 13 months. Through his final year at Ft Carson, CPT Carroll was hired as the Commanding General's Mounted Color Guard OIC and competed in rodeos on behalf of the US Army across the Midwest.
Following MCCC, CPT Carroll went to 2BCT, 11th Airborne Division at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, AK. He initially served as the Brigade Plans Officer for the first-ever Joint Pacific Multinational Readiness Center (JPMRC- Arctic) rotation. Once the exercise was complete, CPT Carroll became the AS3 for 1-40th CAV until receiving Command of Blackhawk Troop, 1-40th CAV, in November 2022. As a Commander, he led his organization through the same Arctic exercise he helped create and numerous Joint, Airborne, and Expeditionary operations. Most notably, the Blackhawk Troop went to the Himalayan Mountains in India to support a multinational training exercise hosted by the Indian Army. While in Alaska, CPT Carroll graduated from Jumpmaster School and achieved Senior Jumpmaster status.
After 16 months in Command, CPT Carroll assumed his current position as Assistant Professor of Military Science at the University of Minnesota. He resides in Blaine with his wife, Jenna, and two children Lillian (3), and Brooks (2 months).
